Dear Customer,
The belief "evil eye" has been common throughout history in a
broad geography. In Turkey and adjacent countries, especially
in the Middle East, "evil eye" represents the harm, which one
may receive to his/her health, wealth and success. Our beads
had been created in the thought to keep the "evil eye" away.
Throughout history the beads also have been used as jewelry
objects. The traditional art of glassmaking goes back to
approximately 3.000 years ago. As like many events, two
glassmakers, who decided to leave their hometown in Syria and
settled on the West Coast of Turkey transferred their
knowledge and gave birth to the beloved Turkish glass beads
tradition.
As you may see in the photographs, beads are still being made
the way like the way 3.000 years ago. Certain level of heat,
gained by wood, talented craftsmen create the unique pieces
today. The small earthen kilns do possess the same curing
properties as an industrial kiln, although it had been created
back in history.
Each piece you will buy will be unique owing to the
traditional art of glassmaking of beads. Also note that the
size of the beads can again not exceed a certain extent. For
further interest, in the way our glass beads are made, please
do contact us. It would a pleasure to inform you, or even
welcome you here at Bead Village!
